A poster describing Caldera’s progress in the development of a non-invasive diagnostic test for prostate cancer was presented by Dr. David Whittaker at the 8th Congress of the International Society for Extracellular Vesicles (ISEV 2019) in Kyoto, Japan. This major international conference, chaired by Caldera’s Scientific Advisory Board member Professor Andrew Hill, was the first meeting of ISEV held in the Asia Pacific Region. Caldera’s diagnostic test is based on extracellular vesicles (EVs) from urine and Caldera’s proprietary EV isolation and analysis methods are of central importance to ongoing test development. The conference was an ideal opportunity to gain insight into the proliferation of new tools and technologies in this field and potentially useful new avenues of development were identified for Calderas EV isolation system. The latest international research findings in EV research reported by leading researchers indicated developments in basic science were fuelling rapid advances in clinical applications. Of the 1194 attendees at the conference, 587 were attending for the first time, indicating very strong growth in EV R&D. Both basic and applied research reports from ISEV 2019 will help inform Caldera’s test development.
